eI know Bombeli is not every ones favourite. But this is a nice curry. Try once and you will love this curry. If you get the right Bombay duck there is no bad smell. When selecting the Bombeli make sure to buy the very fresh looking ones as shown in the picture.
I used 150 g Dried Bombay duck for this curry. This recipe will serve 4-6 people. Cut and clean the the dried fish. Wash thoroughly until the water runs clear. I always soak 10-15 minutes before washing.
Cut several tomatoes , one onion, several cloves of garlic with several green chillies and prepare curry leaves, rampe and cinnamon too. Add about a cup of water to the washed Bombay duck.
I used a teaspoon full chilli powder, 1/2 teaspoon raw curry powder, 1/4 tsp pepper and a 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and enough salt to the taste. Other than that several fenugreek seeds and cinnamon too.
Add all the cut ingredients and spices and herbs in to the pot with Bombay Duck. Mix well.
Cook well until very little liquid. and add one cup of thick coconut milk. cook another two -three minutes until the gravy is slightly thick.
Serve hot with rice, Bread e or flat bread.
