I like caramelised onions with bread, hoppers or even with rice. The taste of it depends on how you make it. I use this step by step guide to the Novice cooks who needs detailed attention.
This recipe will serve 4-6 people.
This is about 300 g onions. Clean and peel onions.get some green chillies too.
Cut the onions and green chillies and put in to a bowl.
Other than that needs about a table spoon full chilli powder, salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, about 2 table spoon full Maldive fish flakes salt to the taste, several curry leaves and some tamarind. The sugar is to your taste. The sugar is optional.
Add all the ingredients except sugar in to the onions and mix well.
Add about 1 tablespoon full oil. Add the prepared onions in to the hot oil and cook about 10 minutes and lower the heat and cook another 5 minutes. Add sugar as needed.
Serve hot with bread, hoppers or even roti.
