Drumstick Leaves with Coconut/ Murunga Mallum

Drumsticks leaves are so nice with plain rice when cook it with coconut. It has no strong flavours or anything. It grows any where which has a tropical climate. I can remember my grandmother using them with prawns to get the heat out from prawns. Other than that you can cook them in a lot ways. It has so many health benefits too. Controlling sugar levels,  and the blood pressure levels, preventing constipation and relieving menstrual pains are some of them.

This recipe will serve 4 people…..

Cut some onion, garlic and several green chillies. Get about a 1/2 tsp chilli powder, curry powder and 1/4 tsp turmeric powder with pinch of pepper and enough salt to taste.

Add coconut oil in to a pan and leave to be hot. Add about a teaspoon of mustard seeds and cumin seeds in to it when the oil is hot.

When the seeds start spluttering add onion and garlic with chillies. Fry until the onions are translucent. After add the spice powders with salt and cook well.

Later add the drumstick leaves and mix well.

Finally add the fresh coconut and stir well. Take off the stove and add some lime juice.
