Raw Banana is called as Alu Kesel in Sri Lanka. But we find only this type of banana for cooking here. But once cooked,  there is   no difference to the curry that we used to eat. When you buy the raw banana try to get the fresh bananas.

This recipe will serve 4 people.

I used a raw banana that weighs about 300 g. Wash and peel the banana. (With out cutting the skin directly just drag the knife down. That way you are not wasting anything). Prepare a bowl cold water adding a pinch of turmeric powder to it to prevent the banana going black.

Slice the raw banana in to the bowl with turmeric. Mean while prepare the ingredients you want for the curry. I added one onion finely sliced, i clove of garlic, curry leaves, cinnamon, Rampe  and 1/2 tsp curry powder with a 1/4 tsp turmeric powder.

After add some fenugreek seeds (Ulu haal)  and a table spoon Maldive fish flakes.  It’s optional . Add a cup of water and cook on a medium heat until slightly cooked and add a 1/2 cup of coconut milk and and cook until it boils. Serve with rice.
