Sri Lankan Cabbage curry Wash the cabbage well. (I have already written how to select, clean and cut a cabbage, please read…….) Cut the cabbage in to chunks and add some curry leaves. Slice half of an onion and add that too. Chop few cloves of garlic and add in to the pot. Add some cinnamon. It takes all the smell out of the cabbage. And cinnamon has good medicinal values too. Add some fenugreek seeds (1/2 Tsp.) If you are not a vegetarian add some Maldive fish flakes. this enhance the flavours. Add 1/2 tea spoon of curry powder. Add just pinch of chilli powder. Cabbage is not really nice with lots of chilli powder. But you can add green chillies as much as you like. Add 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder. Finally add enough salt to your taste. Add 1/2 cup of coconut milk. Use a spoon or your fingers to mix the cabbage with all the spices. Cook on a low heat until its well cooked and not much gravy or the sauce at all. Here is the outcome. Enjoy with plain rice.
