When selecting cabbage for this recipe make sure to get freshly picked ones. Get the out side green leaves for Mallum. Middle ones are good for a curry or a salad or even for a  stir fry. Make sure to wash them one by one several times before cutting. Leave to drain the excess water.

This recipe is  will serve 4-6 people. Pick all the green leaves care fully.  I used about 6 cabbage leaves. Wash thoroughly and then  cut  finely.

Prepare the ingredients needed for the mallum. Cut one onion finely with several cloves of garlic and several green chillies. I used 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp chilli powder, and 1/4 tsp curry  powder with enough salt to the taste.

For this I used 1/2 cup fresh coconut  and added all the spices  on to the coconut and mixed well.

Put about 2 table spoon oil in to a pan and add a tsp mustard seeds and several dried red chillies in to it. Let the mustard seeds splutter and the cut onions, garlic, chillies in to it.

When the onions are translucent add the cabbage in to it.

Mix the cabbage well and add the mixed coconut  on to the cabbage.  Mix well

Stir fry several minutes and  serve hot with rice.
