This is another popular way of cooking chicken in Sri Lanka. I used a full broiler chicken cut in to medium size curry pieces. Skin off the chicken to stop giving fatty curry.

Cut the chicken and skin off the chicken. Prepare onion, garlic, and chillies cut finely. prepare several curry leaves, cinnamon, cloves and cardamon and some tamarind.
Prepare 1 table spoon pepper powder, 1/2 tsp chilli powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, and a teaspoon full curry powder with salt. Add the the spices on to the chicken and rub well.
Add the onions and all you gathered and water to cover the chicken. Cook cover and stir once or twice.
Cook until the gravy is thickened.
