Waffles are good to serve as a dessert or as breakfast. These waffles are so soft in texture too. If you want to serve in the morning make sure to prepare the dough in the evening the day before and bring to the proof. Then punch and leave it in fridge. Make the waffles in the morning.
With out using the waffle maker you can bake them in the oven too.
I love banana in any type of a cake. These muffins are one of my favourite muffins. You can do them in a larger batch and freeze them like I do. When ever you want them its there for you in freezer.
These are good for kids lunch boxes too. Add less sugar if you don’t mind. You can cut them in half and serve with cream or ice cream too. These are cafe style muffins and they are really large. You can do them in small muffin pans too If you do them in regular ones you will get 24 muffins or more. So divide the recipe by 2 to get a smaller batch.

If you ever have walked along Galle Face the famous beach front in Colombo Sri Lanka You know what I am going to talk about. Its not only popular for the beach front, but also for the lovely food that you can have. These lentil patties are one of them. It’s called “Isso wade” which means the prawns topped lentil patties.
Every time I go to Sri Lanka I go with my family and friends for a good rest , and for the lovely food too.????When you enter Galle Face you can smell all the lovely food. Not only Isso wade you can go for more street food which serve piping hot. To my knowledge if you love street food this is the best place in Sri Lanka to visit.
Sitting on a stair, while enjoying the sea breeze nothing is better than an hot and spicy Isso wade. They normally serve it with a spicy sauce with a blend of chilli, lime juice and and few other stuff. Personally I like these lentil patties by itself. Its a choice to get the sauce or not.
.The patties I made are a bit mild in flavour , but always you can spice it up if you love a lot of chillies.

Take two cups of split chick peas (Kadala Parippu) and soak them over night or more than six hours. I got 250 g of these beautiful school prawns (Tiny Prawns) . Don’t buy the large prawns for this.
Cut some fresh chillies , onions, and curry leaves finely. I used 6 large bird eye chillies (Kochchi) and one large onion and about 3 sprigs of curry leaves. Put the soaked split chick peas in a food processor and process until fine, but there should be pieces too.
After Put the mixture in to a bowl and add the onion, chillies and curry leaves with enough salt to the taste. Mix it well. After make small balls out from the mix.
Put the lentil ball on the palm and press to make a pattie like shown in the picture. The size of the pattie should be to the size of the prawn.
Put about half a cup of flour in to a bowl and add some salt. Add about 3/4 cup of water and mix well and make a paste. The paste should be very thick.
On to the pattie add a tea spoon full of the paste and spread it evenly. Lay the prawns on the pattie as shown in the picture.
The pattern of laying should be to the same way.
Put a pan of oil on the stove. Let oil heat well. After add the patties and fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towels before serving.
I found a bread same like this in a bread shop recently and I thought of making it for breakfast on a Saturday morning. I had enough time to do this as all the other wake up late. 🙂
This is so simple to make and also very nice all in one breakfast. For proofing ion the morning I switch on oven to 25 c and leave the dough there to double. It takes only less than thirty minutes. When I was telling the ingredients I missed several and I made sure to include them in my recipe.
The texture of this bread is the same as you find in bread shops and also the taste is much better than them too. Try making them for a quite breakfast and kids specially will love this with out a doubt.
Bread rolls are so easy to make with different styles of dough. I made these beautiful bread rolls from a recipe one of my friends passed to me from her grand mothers. Its so nice and beautiful in texture as well as stays in fridge for longer than a normal bread roll.
As I always says make sure to knead well and let the bread dough rest well for a better results.
Pineapple & chocolate gateau was made to the request of one of the subscribers. She requested me for a cake that is very popular in a restaurant in Sri Lanka. So I did this cake as a copycat for that .
This cake is a very moist cake. but if you are serving this cake as a dessert try wetting the cake with more pineapple juice before adding the icing.
Also try adding pineapple in the middle if you are using the cake the same day. Make sure to put the cake in the fridge too.
With out adding pineapple you can freeze this cake for up to 3 months.
Celeriac is available all around the world during winter time. Its best to use the seasonal fruits and vegetables in your cooking. Celeriac can be cooked in many ways but I like the celeriac mash and the soup a lot.
Celeriac known to be a very good vegetable with lots of fibre and also lots of vitamins and minerals. The scientists says the celeriac is an excellent source of some of the essential minerals such as phosphorus, iron, calcium, copper, and manganese. Recently I read an article says that it contains lots of anti cancer properties to prevent colon cancer.
When you cook celeriac make sure to add more veggies to make it a full meal. This soup can be kept up to 3 days in refrigerator and also can freeze in individual containers up to 3 months.
Adding Cream to this is your choice. It tastes nice with any cream too.
This recipe will serve up to 4-6 people.
Gather several carrots, 3 potatoes, celery sprigs, half of a leek (I used the white part) 1 whole celeriac and one onion with several cloves of garlic. Chop the vegetables roughly. Celeriac needs to be cleaned like potatoes.
Add some butter in to a pot and let it melt. Instead you can use any oil too. Add the chopped vegetables except celeriac and the potatoes. Stir fry about 5 minutes.
Mean while get some salt to your taste and enough stock water to cover the vegetables.
Add the potatoes and celeriac in to the pot and stir wee another 2 minutes on a high heat.
After add the stock water just enough to cover the vegetables.
Once cooked , strain the veggies & mash or puree the vegetables.
Add in to the soup and serve hot with a toasted crusty bread or a bread roll.
